There's a difference between a great movie and a favorite movie. A great movie would be something like The Shawshank Redemption, The Godfather, or Citizen Kane. Something with a superb plot, gripping story, great acting, and tight editing. You know the drill.
Favorite movie implies some sort of guilty pleasure. Just one that you happen to like, even if it is not great. It doesn't have to be the best movie ever made, but it could.
